CONFERENCE AIM

The primary aim of ECMR is to establish an European forum, internationally open, allowing researchers through Europe to become acquainted with the latest accomplishments and innovations in advanced mobile robotics. ECMR will provide invited lectures by established personalities, original presentations about research in progress, and discussions, taking care for a high technical standard. The first meeting of the series was held in September 2003 in Radziejowice, Poland and brought together the communities of two very successful past events, the European Symposium on Intelligent Robotics Systems (SIRS) and the European workshop on advanced mobile robotics (EUROBOT). ECMR'05 is aimed at continuing this policy.

CONFERENCE SCOPE

Mobile robots must have a high degree of interactivity with and adaptability to their surrounding environment. So, most aspects of robotics research and machine intelligence are involved, including (but are not limited to) the following topics:

• control architectures,
• sensor development,
• obstacle avoidance,
• localisation,
• map building,
• navigation,
• active perception,
• behavior and appearance-based robotics,
• path and task planning,
• learning and adaptation, etc.

Technical papers that present long-term experimentation with personal and/or service robots that reliably and autonomously perform their tasks in real-word environments are particularly encouraged.
